| Description | IDnow GmbH offers the identity management service identity Management, which can be used by a trust service provider as a module for its trust service for issuing qualified certificates. For this purpose, IDnow GmbH is contractually integrated as an appointed third party.
As part of identity Management, various identification procedures are offered to natural persons. In some cases, following successful identification, the procedures provide the option to sign contracts in handwriting or with a qualified electronic signature, and thus in a legally binding manner:
- identity Shop: In the identity Shop procedure, the user is identified by an employee of a store commissioned and authorised by IDnow, using a valid identification document. The process is digitally documented by the employee. The collected identity data and the documentation of the identification process are transmitted to IDnow in encrypted form and verified.
- identity Video: In the identity Video procedure, the user is identified by employees of a video call centre cooperating with IDnow. The user is asked, in an uninterrupted video stream, to present themselves and their valid and accepted identity document to the camera. The user must answer the identifier’s questions and perform certain actions in order to demonstrate the authenticity of the process and the identity document. The process is documented by taking several screenshots and by the video stream.
- identity autoID: In the identity Video procedure, the user is identified by employees of a video call centre cooperating with IDnow.
- identity PoS: The identity PoS procedure is offered to users directly at the point of sale by IDnow’s cooperation partners, to identify themselves and then conclude a contract with the respective partner by applying the user’s qualified electronic signature. For this purpose, IDnow works with a trust service provider (TSP). The user enters their identity data on a computer at an authorised point of sale (PoS). This data is transmitted to the TSP and forwarded by the TSP to IDnow. A PoS employee identifies the user using a valid identity document. The recorded identity data is also transmitted to IDnow. If both data sets match, IDnow notifies the TSP that the identification was successful. The user can then use the TSP’s service to sign the contract with a qualified electronic signature.
- identity eID: In the identity eID procedure, the user can identify themselves with the help of their German identity card (nPA) with an IDnow cooperation partner. To do so, the user enters their identity data, receives a code to start the identification process, and is prompted to initiate the reading of the identity card data. The user confirms that they wish to make their identity card data available to the service provider by entering their eID PIN. The data is then read and transmitted to the service provider and from there to IDnow. IDnow compares the original and the read identity data. If both data sets match, the user has been successfully identified.
SRC certifies that the identity management service identity Management is operated by IDnow GmbH in conformity with the requirements of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014. |
